About the Artist

I started dabbling when I was in high school in 1956. Oil painting is my favorite I have tried other types of painting but have always came back to oil. My first attempt was of flamingos I gave that painting to my mother-in-law. One of my earlier paintings was of the Peter Iredale and my sister-in-law has that one. Have I had any formal training? No, I am self taught in oil painting. I did take some classes on how to draw what I see.

I started painting barns because they were the back bone of the family. When I was a kid I remember playing in my aunt and uncle's barns. Barns are an important part of Americana. When Homesteaders first got their property they built the barn first. It was the most important thing to the family.

Barns are slowly disappearing as farms are disappearing and one of the ways to remember them is to put them on canvas. Barns will remind us of our heritage. If they could talk they would all have stories to tell.
